"Create a captivating video about your international water project and win the NWB Award 2023." That was the call to action that 9 projects responded to. A jury has selected the 3 best videos. Now it's up to all water professionals to cast their vote and choose the winner. The winner will receive the prize that the NWB Fonds awards annually for the most inspiring video about international water management work.

Smart collaboration with stakeholders

The theme for 2023 is smart collaboration with stakeholders. Stakeholders play a central role in all international projects, whether as polluters or users, as water wasters or water savers. These stakeholders can be businesses or residents, public organizations or NGOs. It is always a challenge to engage them effectively in water management, taking local culture into account. This also applies to the Netherlands, so there is much to learn from international projects for our work here.

Choice of the jury

A jury consisting of representatives from the NWB Fonds, Blue Deal, and professional filmmakers selected the following 3 videos from all the entries, in no particular order:

  1. Blue Deal Burkina Faso: the impact of soil-improving trees for farmers

  2. Blue Deal Peru: a strategic alliance for water conservation in Chira - Piura

  3. Blue Deal Ethiopia: wetlands for wastewater treatment (“smelling the flowers”)

The jury selected these videos because they tell an engaging story that can be shared. The videos are also visually appealing, with captivating music and editing. And, of course, the jury looked at how well the theme of smart collaboration with stakeholders was incorporated.

Cast your vote!

Now it's your turn. Which of these 3 videos deserves the 5000 euro prize for the project, a spot on the Wall of Fame in the Union of Water Authorities' office, and a publication in the magazine Het Waterschap? You can cast your vote via the following webpage: https://dutchwaterauthorities.com/nwb-award-voting/

Here, you can view all the entries. Since this involves international work, and our foreign partners can also vote, the webpage is in English. Please note that voting is open until Friday, November 24.

Announcement of the winner

The winner will be announced during the network day of the Dutch Water Authorities on November 27. You can inquire about this with the foreign coordinator of your water authority or the program manager of the NWB Fonds, Marion Wierda (mwierda@uvw.nl).
