Award Ceremony
On October 18, the NWB Award was presented for the third time: the award from the NWB Fund for the most inspiring video about international water board work. The winner was selected from seven submissions focused on climate adaptation. And the winner is... the video about sustainable reforestation to combat riverbank erosion in Morogoro, Tanzania!
During the closing event of the KIWI program at Waterschap Rivierenland in Tiel, the audience was invited to vote on which project should take home the NWB Award. The video from Tanzania received 55% of the votes, making it the winner.

The Prize
The project featured in the winning video is a collaboration between the water boards of Hollands Noorderkwartier, Rivierenland, Brabantse Delta, and Amstel Gooi en Vecht (via World Waternet), along with agroforestry consultant Farmtree from the Netherlands, and Moruwasa and Wami/Ruvu from Tanzania.
The project team receives a prize of €5,000 for communication activities, a spot on the "Wall of Fame" at the office of the Unie van Waterschappen in The Hague, and a publication in the magazine Het Waterschap. Stan Avontuur from Waterschap Brabantse Delta accepted the award on behalf of his team (see photo).
Jury Shortlist
Before the voting, a shortlist of three videos was created by a panel of experts. This jury assessed whether the story told in 2 minutes was engaging and easily shareable. Additionally, the video had to focus on the theme of climate adaptation and be technically well-made.
The following entries made it to the shortlist (in random order):
The Romanian River Jiu tells the story of managing drought (submitted by Blue Deal Romania)
Between Flooding and Scarcity: The Importance of Water Models in Tumbes, Peru (submitted by Blue Deal Peru)
Working Together for Sustainable Water Management in Morogoro, Tanzania (submitted by World Waternet)
